One might not be aware of this but it would be really tough to go to a place without a product which doesn’t contain Soda Ash, This is because, Soda Ash, known as Sodium carbonate in the chemical industry, is used almost everywhere and has been one of the basic raw material for a long time, in history.

Lets have a look at some of the products in which soda ash is one of the crucial ingredient.

Glass
Most of the glass that is manufactured today has soda-lime-silica component. Sand or silica, is the oxide which is the main ingredient used to make glass. The utility of lime is to bring chemical stability during the process of manufacture and soda ash is used as the fluxing agent. The reason why soda ash is important in the manufacture of glass is because soda ash regulates the temperature at the furnace so that the energy gets distributed in order to produce glass.

Chemicals
About 15 percent of the demand for the soda ash comes from the chemical processing companies, in India. Soda ash is a good source of sodium ions, which is required in the production of sodium silicates, sodium phosphates, sodium bicarbonates (baking soda) which is also an essential component in the manufacture of fizzy drinks, soaps, detergents, coatings, food preservatives, personal care products and for dialysis.
Soaps & Detergents

Around 6% of the soda ash, is supplied to the soap and detergent manufacturers, by the soda ash manufacturers in India. Soda ash is an important ingredient in the manufacture of soaps because it acts as a builder when the soaps, cleaning compounds and detergents are formulated.

Soda Ash is such a basic manufacturing agent, that various government and commercial chemical agencies produce the statistics of the production to measure the economic health.
